Persistence Actually Does Pay Off...
I am now the proud owner of a Game Cube. Woo hoo! There is a story that follows that might be rather lengthy, yet probably humorous to those of you who aren't me. Especially me at about 3:30 today.
I get up and get ready and am out the door at about noon to go to Best Buy to get my Game Cube. I get there, and there weren't any on the shelves so I asked a dude if they had any. He tells me, that they were sold out. I have a gift card tot Best Buy and I wanted to use it to buy the Game Cube. So I go to the second nearest Best Buy which is a 15 minute drive to Fairfield Commons. Time is now 12:45pm. I again didn't see them on the shelves and asked the dude if they had any. He told me they sold the last one around noon. At that point I said screw it and drove down the road to Circuit city and bought one there. Now I had to use my gift card at Best Buy to get an extra controller and memory card. So I went back to the Best Buy by the Dayton Mall. I yoinked the last blue controller and the last memory card. At that point my brother and his girlfriend walked up. She was looking for the same game I was...Mario Kart: Double Dash. It's the only game I really really want. Of course, Best Buy was out and so was the other store, they called for us. Here's where the story gets very "game-like" and it would probably be easier to read if I put it in a list so here goes...The search for Double Dash....
1. Best Buy is out so we went next door to Toys R US. Find out that they're out too...
2. Circuit City by the Dayton Mall has a bazillion Game Cubes, no Mario Kart, on to the next place...
3. Target by the Dayton Mall, yeah, nothing...
4. KMart by the Dayton Mall, gave me a funny look when i asked if they had it, that's a negative...
5. Dayton Mall, tried to avoid it, no place had it, all sold out, next....
6. Walmart, gone, next shipment is Saturday, at this point my brother and girlfriend have to leave for work and I'm on my own...
7. KMart in Springboro, all gone too, damn...Where to go next? I'd covered the immediate area, and Franklin has nothing but some cars up on blocks. Lightbulb! Middletown!!!! So I hop on I-75 and drive 2 exits to Middletown...
8. Target in Middletown...nothing, come on people! All I want is a stupid game!!!
9. Towne Mall, there are actually stores in it again and neither of the 2 game stores have it...
10. Meijers behind the towne mall, yep they were out too...
11. Game Crazy, a place I happened to drive by after visiting Meijers, zippo...
12. What to do now? I had visited all the stores that I knew of within a half hour drive that sell anything electronic. Next bet? Follow St. Rt. 122 into downtown Middletown. I see a KMart and pull in, hoping that it was the one store everyone forgot about when it came to buying Double Dash...I walk back to the electronics section and look. Nothing...nothing....BINGO! My journey was over! I had found it! Mario Kart was mine! There were 3 left, so I hunted down someone and bought Mario Kart. YAY!!!
I now have Mario Kart: Double Dash in my possession. Time of purchase? 4:17pm. Amount of gas used? half a tank. Here's the question. Am I a selfish bitch for not getting a copy for my brother's girlfriend? She was with me the first leg of the tour....Oh well, too late now. There will be lotsa blue sparks coming from my house. If anyone's in the area and wants to join, stop by... :)
