Vroom Vroom...again
So after this past weekend, that was for the most part a fun weekend, there is one thing that I would like to thank my parents for. You'll probably laugh at this one as I am right now, but I am glad that my parents forced me to drive a car with a manual transmission. I hated them at first for it. I remember the first time my Dad took me out to the loading dock of a warehouse to teach me just how to start. That poor '87 Chevy cavalier wagon was buckin' and hoppin' like you would believe. Then he took me to the high school parking lot and taught me to start on a hill. We then progressed to driving around my neighborhood, and starting and stopping on my street and finally to the open road. That was the scariest thing EVER! Well, at the time. There were many thoughts running through my 15 year old head. "What if I stall it?" "What if I roll back into another car?" Now I laugh at myself for thinking that. If I stall, I laugh and start it back up, I don't panic like I used to. The chances of me rolling back into another car? Not likely at all.
What I'm saying here is that my parents, ok my Dad, rock/s for making me learn and pushing through the numerous tears that I cried because it was the first thing that I couldn't do on the first try. Now that my car isn't a stick (*tear*) I miss it. A lot! My next car will definitely be a stick because, well, my left foot is getting bored :)
And now my list of reasons driving a stick rocks...
1.) You have to pay attention to speed, and not really have to pay attention to speed limits. Unless you're on a back road with an RX-8 in 6th gear :)
2.) It's exercise with for your left foot.
3.) Toes going numb when caught in traffic? NEVER! ok, that's totally a lie. That's like the only disadvantage to driving a stick.
4.) Cooler cars come standard with manual transmissions
5.) Rolling backwards and scaring people is a lot more fun than it should be :)
6.) They accelerate faster, if you do it right
7.) You have to admit, doing a peel and squeal is fun!
8.) Mmmmm, downshifting to pass slow cars
9.) It's good to know that you can drive any car you want
10.) You never know when you might have to drive around drunk/hungover friendsor friends with broken things, and their car is a stick
*Topic Change*
So BG is stupid and in case you were wondering why I haven't been online, it's because we haven't had the interweb in our room since Friday. It sucks! I'm in the computer lab typing this, so, uh, yeah. I'll only be online 2-3 hours a day max, instead of 24/7 until they get the problem fixed. It's really pissing me off! So, yeah call the cell if you need to get ahold of me!
