Thumpin'

For my birthday my parents got me new speakers for my car. Because 1.) Escort factory speakers aren't the greatest and 2.) I blew them listening to the Blue Devils one day (I know, it coulda been something cooler, but oh well, loud BD is good?)

I did some searching and found that my speaker sizes are odd, ok the rear ones are. 5 1/4 is pretty standard and there are a lot of options for the front, but 5x7/6/8 are usually only used in Fords and Mazdas, so the selection was limited for the back. After hitting up Soundwaves, Circuit City and Best Buy once (mall traffic was HORRIBLE) and looking at prices, I was pretty set in buying 4 Infinity speakers for ~$200. Then upon close inspection and listening, I discovered that they were only 2-ways, limiting them to treble and bass and not much alto/tenor voicing. The music major in me MUST have 3 ways (not not Skyline or sex), and I decided to go with the Sony Xplod speakers in the front and Pioneers in the back. It should sound great, I can't wait to get them installed. Also, the price is $30 cheaper. And while saying that I have Infinity speakers in my escort wagon would be braggin rights, I prefer a better sound any day :)
