Drivin' Slow on Tuesday Evening
Today I had a Dr.'s appt back in the D-town (oakwood to be exact) at 3pm. I left BG at 12:30 and got there at exactly 3. Which is a little longer than expected due to very blustery conditions driving down I-75. See, since 75 runs north-south and the winds were blowing east-west @ 25mph and there aren't any hills or many trees to block the wind, it was pretty much white knuckle driving and like turning right for 2 hours the whole way down. It got much better, then worse. Well, the better part was being told by the doctor that i never have to go back there again (yay!), hanging out with my Dad and chatting with his boss for about an hour, and then having dinner with my parents at the Chipotle on Brown street in Dayton. I haven't had Chipotle since December, it was yummy good.
About 5:30 i hopped back on 75 at Edwin C Moses Blvd. to drive back to BG. ETA 7:30-8pm depending on weather. I'm cruising through downtown at 75mph with traffic no problem, then I hit somewhere around mile marker 90 (BG is 181, Boro is 38, for mileage reference) which is Sidney. and traffic starts to slow due to wind, where i expected because that's where traffic started to speed up due to lack of wind on the way down. Logic, ow. Anyway, traffic then decides to stop. Mmm...people who can't drive in bad weather. I only had a 1/4 tank of gas, so I got off at 105 to fill up the rest of the way so I wouldn't have to worry about being stuck somewhere and running out. By this point the snow was drifting and the badly because the geniuses that designed the land around the interstate decided not to put up mini hills or patches of trees, just empty cornfields asking for drifts, and the wind was blowing at 30mph consistently. Fun. To make a long story short i got back to BG at 9pm. A 2 hour drive turned into a 3 1/2 hour drive. Also on the way down, its usually 2 hours and 15 min from BG to my driveway. Oakwood is further north and it took longer to get there than my house. Here are some statistics of what i drove through.
Cars in the ditch: 9
Of the cars in the ditch, # of emergency crews: 7

Calling your roommate while sitting in traffic because you're bored: priceless.
