Common Sense
The latest news in the city of Toledo is getting the people who live in Toledo to fly out of the Toledo Airport instead of Detroit. The latest beef is that the Toledo mayor recently went on a trip and flew out of Detroit. The only way they are going to get more business to the airport is to add a runway or 2 and put "International" in its name, and get a major airline to put a hub there. Until then, there isn't going to be a huge amount of business.
I fly out of Detroit whenever I fly. Why don't I fly out of Toledo if it's only 20 minutes away and parking is a ton cheaper? Those are the only convenient things about the airport. For me to fly from Toledo requires layovers. More often than not, I am going to be flying to DC. A flight out of Toledo requires a layover in Dayton, Cincinnati, Detroit, or Chicago. Use those geography skills. Why fly from Toledo to Detroit to sit in the airport when I can drive to Detroit in less than the amount it would take to fly and get a nonstop flight and its cheaper because Northworst has a hub there. So until city of Toledo can use logic, they can keep running circles around the issue :P

Behold, my plan for getting more air traffic into Toledo airport!
Build a high-speed light rail line betwee Detroit airport and Toledo airport. Rename the Toledo Airport "Detroit International Airport South". Make all the cut-rate fare airlines fly out of that, and let the pricey ones fly out of Detroit.
