The Light

Monday will be my last first day of class as an undergrad at BG. I will have many more first days of school in my life as a teacher and a grad student. For what it's worth, another chapter in life is closing. One that my dwindling bank account can't wait to close. All I have left is class this fall and then student teaching in the spring, then I'm done. It was weird having to go to the bookstore and only buy 2 books (even though it was still $190).

I then freaked as it became a realization after talking to my horn professor about my senior recital this fall. I actually chose pieces. Then it will be official when I schedule the date for my recital on Monday. Then I will freak because I have to play 45 minutes of music on the stage, by myself, on the horn. The horn, an instrument I have yet to master. I learn something new about it everyday. Especially with its uncanny ability to play whatever note it wants, whether the valve combination you put down is correct or not. I complain about it a lot, but deep down inside I love it, it's so intriguing. There are also times it sits in the case and says "I bet you can't do *enter something here* and I have to figure it out, just because it's telling me I can't. It's like "don't push the big red button syndrome." Damn I love the horn!

So here's to senioritis that will set in, and the nerves that will cramp my stomach come recital time, and the fact that I ONLY HAVE 5 CLASSES! (well, plus lessons and band and teaching Tuesday and Thursday mornings)
