This One Time....(part II)

So this past week at band vacation was awesome. It was what I expected and more. I thought that Boro had it good at OU, haha! Hell no! My "cabin" was a 3 bedroom 2 story house and I had a room the size of my one at home to myself. The decor needed to be updated; if you turned back time oh, about 30-35 years, it would be awesome. It also smelled old. Like my grandma's house. I'll take that over a dorm room anytime.

There are also traditions that are strictly followed. I found out about one of them at 6am Wednesday morning. I was woken to the sound of my door getting pounded in and a bunch of seniors screaming at me to get out of bed, put my bathing suit on and meet them outside. I got outside and saw all the freshmen and other new staff members and chaperones/parents standing in a block at attention. The seniors marched us down to the lake and made us go for a swim. It was awesome, it woke me up and the water was warm. Turns out that it is tradition for the seniors to do this to all the freshmen and adults/staff members that are new to camp.

The mellos also had some horn angle problems, mostly with the 2 freshmen. I could have been a bitch to them and made them stand at attention with their horns up, but I'm not a bitch. For afternoon sectionals on Wednesday I told them to put their suits on and grab their horns because we were going in the lake. We went out to about chest high and serenaded those around us with mello music. With the water that high, they had to keep their horns up so they didn't go under. They didn't realize what I was doing and thought it was awesome that I let them go swimming with their horns :) I wore my "Go Turbo Go" shirt on Tuesday, so they don't call me Ash or Ashley it's Turbo to them :P

Being not official school staff, the other 2 BG students (who I know fairly well) and the percussion instructor went to the bar on Monday and Wednesday nights. Wed. we each had a pitcher. The only thing that sucked was my alarm going off at 6:30 the next morning.

The only thing that sucked was waking up with a sore throat Monday. I wanted to beat the cold early so I didn't feel like shit the whole week, so I went to the store to buy some super strength cold killer. Only to find out that all they can sell now is stuff without some pseu-something ingredient due to the fact that it is used as a base for crystal meth. The only thing they had was Tylenol, which doesn't do anything, Advil, which I had with me, and Benedryl, which i didn't want, but grabbed due to the fact that it got rid of sore throat and runny nose. It worked pretty well, I guess. Until Tuesday night when I started to loose my voice. Wednesday morning it was completely gone to the point where I carried around my binder with a dry erase marker, as of about an hour ago it's one its way back.

So after that eventful week, I'm off to Boro in the morning to leave for band camp numero dos. I'll be back from there next Saturday. So uh, call the cell. If I'm not in rehearsal, I'll answer :P
