Blame the French

So the amount of time I have spent playing this semester has gone up significantly due the the recital and what not. That's not necessarily a bad thing. That bad thing is that I spend a significant amount of that time standing and playing. Yes I'm lazy, but this isn't why it's bad. I just discovered that my left arm is weak. The left arm bears most of the weight of the instrument, and 17 feet of solid nickel silver isn't that light. Due to this my left arm is actually stronger than my right. See, I have to stand while playing my recital and it all comes down to the "practice how you perform thing." There's one downfall, do to the weight of the horn, my left wrist, the one I broke last summer, is throbbing right now. My question is why hasn't anything else hurt it before now, and why now, not earlier in the semester, etc. I know it has to do with the angle of the horn and the sideways "bending" the weight does. I blame the French part of the horn, because the horn isn't French at all, it's German, so if anyone ever says I play the French horn, I will smite you, better yet, take your water.

Perhaps a brace, or just an ace bandage?

I have a brace, but they interfere with holding the horn, making it slipping, and the extra stuff makes the keys farther away than I'm used to.

Maybe I should stop being stubborn and suck it up and deal :P

It's all in your head, have you tried bucking up?
