What now?

I have an interview with the Las Vegas school district. I have mixed feelings...

1.) It's Vegas and it would be fun for a bit. I certainly wouldn't consider it a permanent job.

2.) It's Vegas and it's REALLY far away from Indy

3.) It's really far away from the Boro

I know for sure that I don't want to accept this job right off the bat, it's still early and something else closer, or in Indy, might come my way. But I don't want to kill my chances if this is the only offer I get. What to do?

Seems to me you have to ask yourself a couple questions.

1) Do you want a job?
If yes goto 2

2) Do you want this job?
If no BREAK else goto 3

3) What's the time commitment?

IMO There's no point in you interviewing for this job if you're not serious about accepting it if they make an offer, except for practice at doing interviews.

Depending on the time committment to the position, you need to engage every interview as though it is the only interview you'll get. At the same time of course, don't be desperate and accept the first job offer you get if there's real prospects of something more desireable coming up.

Powder, you're right, but you're wrong. A good practice interview is worth its weight in gold. Doing two or three interviews at places you're not serious about would be wrong, but doing one, especially if they're not footing a lot of fly-out costs, totally worth it.

Now you, get a job in indy :)
