My Side of the Story

It's 1am, and I'm bored. I should get my mage to 18 tonight (I'm 4k away) but I'm sick of grinding. I'm such a bad ass that I've done all the quests for my level already without going over to night elf world. Maybe not bad ass, maybe I've made so many alts I've done the quests WAY too many times.

Anyway, to the point of the post...

I was at work tonight and we weren't busy at all, one of my co-workers, just noticed the ring on my left hand tonight, why it took him so long I don't know. Anyway, after telling "the story" I just realized that I never really posted my version of the way that evening went. Not that it's any different, but what was going through my head is certainly NOT what was going through Nagi's head :)

It was the Monday before Easter weekend, and I get an IM from Nagi, telling me we have dinner plans Friday night. Cool, probably with parents or friends or something. To actually have dinner plans for just the 2 of us almost a week in advance is rare, so I assumed we were having dinner with somebody. I get back to 'Boro on Thursday, knowing that Nagi won't be there until Friday evening. It was one of the first really nice weekends and I REALLY wanted to drive the dune buggy. Knowing it needed a new clutch I started bugging my brother a week earlier to get the part to fix it. He couldn't get it because the place to get it closed by the time he got off work. Being the cool sister I am, I volunteered to drive to north Dayton to get the part so he could fix it that weekend and I could drive it (I never did get to drive it that weekend). So I had him call ahead and have them set aside the parts he needed so I could just grab them when I got there. My Mom volunteered to go with me, so off we went in my Mom's car. So we drive the 20 minutes up there, and get the parts, and decide that we aren't going to take the interstate home. We're finding our way through Dayton when my Mom's phone rings, it's my Dad. The converstaion went something like this:

Me: "Hey Dad"
Dad: kinda confused "hey Ash is your Mom there?"
Me: Sure, she's driving, hold on...
I hand the phone to my Mom
Mom: Really? Really? Ok, I'll let her know.

I ask my Mom what was up. She told me not to go anywhere that night because my Dad was ending class early (he teaches at a community college Thursday nights) so we could all go out to dinner. Ok, no biggie, I had quasi plans with Fox, after running into him at Taco Bell during lunch.

Here's the real story, and why my Mom wins a daytime Emmy award. What my Dad was telling her was that Nagi called to tell him that he was popping the question that night and needed their help in keeping me home, the whole dinner plan thing was a lie and plot to keep me home.

So, my Mom hangs up, and I call my Dad back. My Dad then got super confused, probably thinking my Mom told me, I dunno. All I did was call him to tell him not to forget to call his Mom and wish her a happy birthday. Because he asked me to remind him the night before.

We get home, and I then decided to give Chief a bath, he smelled like, well, dog. So I give him (and most of myself) a bath. I had just gotten done with that when my phone rang. It was Nagi. and it was about 6pm. The conversation went something like this...

Me: Hey
Nagi: Hey, what'cha up to?
Me: Not much, just got back from getting the buggy parts.
Nagi: You know those dinner plans we had for tomorrow night? Move them to tonight.
Me: Really? I already have dinner plans with my parents, but you can come along
Nagi: Ummm...I wanna make this dinner just you and me because we haven't been out to a nice dinner with just the two of us in awhile. So ditch your parents.
Me: (runs downstairs to tell Mom that I'm ditching her for dinner)
Nagi: I'll pick you up in an hour, and make sure you're dressed nice.

SHIT! an hour? That's what ran through my head. I smelled like a mix of car parts store ( you all know what that smells like) and wet dog. I couldn't NOT take a shower. And then I had to do my hair, and luckily I brought teaching clothes home to wash, or else I would have had nothing nice. So I tell my Mom that I need her hair assistance when I get out of the shower and into the shower I go.

Fast forward an hour of me primping, and Nagi is at the door, downstairs talking to my Mom and brother. I come downstairs and I hardly have time to say bye before I'm whisked out the door. Meanwhile, everyone but me knew what was going to happen.

So here's Nagi and I all spiffed up in his sexy PD9K, and I'm trying to guess where dinner is, because I have no clue. He drives past Fricker's tricking me like he did for prom, then past L'Auberge, where we went for prom, then we end up on Main St. in Oakwood. We drive past a Starbucks, and he suggests stopping there, which I'm ok with because I NEVER miss an opportunity for Sbux. So he drives around back and parks, and we get out, and we walk...past Starbucks to the restaurant next door that I didn't know existed. All I knew was that the door stated 'Proper Attire Required.' Ooo, a fancy place.

I may have become a little suspicious when we walked in and the hostess, didn't even ask a name, and crossed the name off the list, but I brushed it off. We were then seated, and we ordered drinks. 5 or so minutes after the drinks came, or before, I dunno, the waitress brought a rose. I assumed all the females got a rose, because my Dad has taken my Mom to places like that before. I was wrong, 5 or so minutes later, another waitress brought another rose. This continued until I had a dozen roses in my lap. I became suspicious again at 8, thinking it would stop there for the number of years we've been together. But it didn't. I also think one of the bus boys said congratulations or something, but I was so confused with what was happening that it didn't register.

Then food came and the steaks were crazy out of this world good. The waitress took our plates, and then Nagi and I started talking, I remember him saying something about the "real reason we're here.." and then some sappy speech, that I honestly don't remember (sorry Nagi) because I was in shock, that 1.) Nagi's never said words like these before and b.) It finally registered that this was it. After the sappy speech, Nagi said something like "Do you want me to embarrass you more?" Umm...DUH! I nodded, so he started fumbling in his pocket , and then it really hit...Do I laugh? cry? smile and sit there? cover my face? I think I did all of those at once. He got up, and got down on one knee, asked the question, which honestly I don't really remember hearing, and he almost got the ring box open before I said yes. I don't really remember any of that, it seemed to fly by. We kissed (I think) then stood up and took a bow for the restaurant that was watching what was going on. They were all applauding. And as couples were leaving they all congratulated us and stuff.

So there you have it, the engagement story in a nutshell. Well, not really it's pretty long. I didn't include all the parts about him secretly talking with Gimp. The list of people that knew was rather large, and somehow it all remained a secret to me. Especially my Mom, who is NOTORIOUS for having a blabber mouth and telling the whole world what's going on, especially since she knew that it was going to happen, just not when, since December. And a super shout out to Gimp for being a sneaky bitch, and helping Nagi.

That's all, y'all can go puke now, or go watch your chick flicks or whatever. All I know is that I'm going to bed because now I'm tired, the lack of detail towards the end might be a little noticeable :)
