So I named the cat Mia after a .hack cat/rabbit mix that is on a forever quest for some smelly grass. I discovered in the first 5 minutes I had her that she LOVES catnip. I discovered this name this morning and I couldn't resist. That was after I considered leaving her name as TBA which is what it was at the vet's office until this morning. So Mia it is.
She went to the vet this morning and came back with a clean bill of health and a rabies booster. And a discount from the vet because I adopted her. The vet tech lady was cracking me up with all her "thank you so much for adopting her" stuff. They even gave me a free dose of flea stuff just in case.
So after having Mia a little over 24 hours, I discovered she has some quirks. All cats do, but some of these are a little odd.
-She scrapes the carpet around her food bowl as if she's scraping stray pieces into a pile
-She has or tried to open every cabinet in the kitchen that is floor level. I went to bed last night and closed all the cabinet doors to get up this morning and find 3 open. The one in the bathroom is a little too heavy for her.
-Not only does she do that to cabinet doors, but the closet doors as well. She figured out how bifold doors work...
-Her favorite place to sleep is in the back corner of the coat closet behind the vacuum cleaner.
We also hit some milestones today. She was pretty distant almost all of yesterday unless I initiated contact. This evening after I got home from the gym, I turned on the TV to get my Survivor and CSI fix. (I still need to get Earl from Nagi) and she jumped on the couch, the walked into my lap. Then she head something after about 5 minutes and had to go investigate. She came back, and by then I was laying on the couch, at which point she jumped up, and fell asleep on me. Holy cow is she long. She stretches out when she sleeps and front paws to back paws went from my neck to the middle of my shins. She slept there for about 2 hours, then had to check on some sounds coming from outside my door.
So there's probably the last kitty update unless something crazy drastic happens.
That and I start teaching Monday and sent some emails so I know what I'm doing, and have yet to hear anything back. I'm sure there will be something interesting to post. I do know where I"m going, but I don't know what time to be there, what I'm teaching, what class periods of the day I'm teaching, and what the kids have been doing. Have they had long term subs? I dunno. I also have been nowhere in the school besides the main office. That school is HUGE. I would say it easily rivals Centerville. And it's only 2 grades. I'm scared, and nervous, and anxious. All things I can't let the kids know :p
Wish me luck.
